At that time, the recipe was simple - salt and sun, dried the meat to last during long sea voyages. Native Americans adopted the name from the conquerors and developed the recipe by adding different spices.

The American Robert "Petteri" Petersen coached the Finnish basketball team in the 1952 Olympics held in Helsinki, Finland. He returned to our country and basketball coaching in the late 50s.
